A collaboration project to make online survey research easier.

Most researchers have had no training in survey design and have to depend on expensive and inflexible packaged survey software. In addition, most researchers are not entirely comfortable with the statistics part.
Because of my background in designing online surveys and teaching statistics I am constantly being asked to help with other people's surveys. So to formalise the arrangements, I offer you a deal:

If you have

• 1) an initial list of questions
• 2) an Ethics committee proposal
• 3) a list of email addresses for the survey to be sent to
• 4) a track record of publication

...then I will

• a) redesign your survey so that it produces the data you need
• b) create a database to hold the data
• c) program an attractive and easy-to-use online survey
• d) create interactive Consent pages and Feedback pages
• e) create a way to deal with prize draws etc.
• f) analyse the data for you,
     create the statistics you need and
     put them into a form suitable for reporting in the article

...and then you will

• x) incorporate the results into an article for academic publication
• y) include me as a joint author in that and subsequent publications
• z) deal with all other aspects of the publication process.

David Mason PhD MSc teaches Research Methods and specialises in the design, analysis and administration of surveys. He has many years of experience in extracting statistical information from survey data.
